“I know what I DON’T want, but I’m not sure what I DO want.” Does that feel oddly familiar?
Watch this video for a 3 part exercise to learn how to know what you want, how to know what you want FIRST (in case you have lots of ideas), and your first steps to making it happen. Because if you want to figure out how to change your life, it starts with knowing what you want your life to actually be.
It’s definitely a great first step knowing what we DON’T want, but defining and fine-tuning what we DO want can feel overwhelming and sometimes untouchable.
That’s why I want to share this exercise I use with my coaching clients with you. All you’ll need is a couple pieces of blank paper, a pen, and 10-20 minutes(-ish).
I’ll show you how to answer 3 questions:
- How to answer “what do I want?”
- How to figure out what you want FIRST – as in you want a lot of things but aren’t sure where to start
- What to do next once you’ve got it

This is not a one time practice. Once will get you started, but just like you need to constantly adjust the steering wheel to stay on the road, learning how to know what you want in life or your goals require the same thing.
Come back to this exercise anytime you start to feel like you’re off track again (even if that’s daily to begin with!).
